COMMITTEE POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Committees are typically represented by a Chair and Co-Chair. The Chair coordinates the planning and execution of the committee work, committee volunteer needs, and gives updates to the Board as needed.
Additionally, most committees need several committee members to help the Chair/Co-Chair. Roles offer flexibility to work at your own time. BEAKER
Show school spirit by wearing the Beaker (school mascot) costume at special events or be Beaker’s assistant as he mingles with students.
Time Frame: Ongoing

BOOK FAIR
Secure and organize volunteers to work at school book fair.
Timeframe: 1 Book Fair in Fall and 1 in Spring

CARNIVAL
Plan, organize and advertise all aspects of this popular family event in May. Work with subcommittee of volunteers to determine activities for the event, organize volunteers to work at the carnival, set up and decorate, and coordinate food for the event.
Timeframe: Planning starts in March event scheduled for mid-May.

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS
Compose Corporate Sponsorship letter, maintain sponsorship mailing list, gather sponsorship money, logos & applicable ads for directory/yearbook/banner/etc.
Timeframe: April - August

CREATIVE/MARKETING
Creates all marketing materials needed for school theme and events.
Timeframe: Ongoing

DIRECTORY
Coordinate the publications, sales and distribution of the annual school directory. Collect and update the student database, gather additional content from school, PTO and sponsors. Work with the printer on design and content, proofread the document and collect directory sales and distribute the final publication.
Timeframe: August/September

EARNING FOR EDUCATION
Promote and coordinate our fundraising efforts with Box Tops, TAGG, and Amazon Smile.
Timeframe: Ongoing

FALCON FUNdraiser
Plan and coordinate the popular and primary fundraising event for the school. Work with committee of volunteers to solicit businesses to sponsor the event, design the T-Shirt, coordinate sponsor advertisements with the Sponsorship committee, promote the event, collect student donations, and plan all activities and snacks for the event.
Timeframe: Summer and Early Fall; 2022 Event Scheduled for September 16.

FALCON EVENTS
Schedule Falcon Food Nights or shopping nights to promote a sense of community and raise funds for our school. Plan, coordinate and advertise family events held at the school to promote school spirit and a sense of community. Examples include Fall Fest, BINGO night, etc.
Timeframe: Ongoing, 2 or 3 events throughout the year.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Plan and coordinate festivities for the first day of school.
Time Frame: August

5th GRADE GRADUATION
Organize 5th Grade Celebration after graduation on last day of school. Assist the 5th Grade teachers with planning a graduation theme if needed.
Timeframe: April-May

HOLIDAY GIFT
Plan and coordinate a collection of funds to give a monetary gift to all teachers and staff during the holiday. Organize a booklet of notes and pictures for all teachers and staff provided by the students.
Timeframe: November and December

HOSPITALITY
Plan and coordinate a welcome event for new families at Fire Ridge. Also, help plan and coordinate staff morale boosters throughout the year.

KEEP FIRE RIDGE BEAUTIFUL
Coordinate cleanup efforts on school property. Cleanup includes landscape, weeding and maintenance. (Mowing and snow removal done by district).

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
Identifies recipients for the annual Fire Ridge PTO Scholarship. The recipients are previous students of Fire Ridge.

SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS
Secure school supply kit contract, obtain school supply kit flyers to distribute to families, summarize/place order, and distribute kits to student's desk morning of open house.
Timeframe: April-August
Chair: OPEN
SOCIAL MEDIA/WEBSITE/NEWSLETTER
Manage and create content for social media posts, website and electronic newsletter. Will set deadlines, collect and organize information, design, proof and distribute the information to varies sites.
Timeframe: Ongoing

STAFF APPRECIATION
Plan a week of activities to show gratitude for the school staff. Examples include staff breakfast or lunch, collection of student sentiments/thanks.
Timeframe: February/March

VOLUNTEERS
Solicit classroom volunteers at the beginning of the school year, and for other specialty events such as health screenings, picture day, etc. Mostly using Sign Up genius.
Timeframe: Ongoing

WELCOME COMMITTEE
Contact new families to welcome them, answer questions, and invite them to an event. Ideally this would be repeated in winter and spring for families who arrive later in the year.
Timeframe: August and late Winter

YEARBOOK
Manage the publication, sales and distribution of the annual school yearbook. Work with the printer on layout, obtain photographs, collect/record sales of the book, and organize distribution of the publication.
